Your Complete Guide to the Best Beaches in Patong, Thailand
From the colorful and flavorful food to the exciting night life and majestic beaches, Patong’s combination of natural beauty and modern entertainment have made it one of Thailand’s most popular tourism destinations. There are plenty of things to do in this small Thai beach town, but the stunning scenery and comfortable weather are the most obvious highlights. Regardless of whether you’re on a business trip, family vacation, or just a personal getaway, you’ll get plenty of enjoyment out of visiting the following five outdoor destinations:
1. Freedom Beach
This is perhaps the crown jewel and hidden gem of beach hopping in Patong, with pristine Turquoise blue waters, glistening white sand, and an abundance of tropical greenery surrounding the shore. Although there are plenty of hotels in Patong Beach, Phuket, Thailand, it will take a decent hike or boat ride to get to Freedom Beach, regardless of which hotel you choose to stay at. If you take a taxi, expect to travel down a very long set of stairs. Taking the boat will cost more, but it’s the more convenient and scenic route.
2. Paradise Beach
This beach is worth a visit if you’re looking for good photo opportunities. However, many visitors have stated that there are sharp corals which keep the beach from being a comfortable place to swim. Still, the views alone make Paradise Beach worth a mention on this list, as it remains one of the premier beaches in the Patong area.
3. Patong Beach
Of course, you can’t visit Patong without seeing the main beach. This area is known for its bustling night life, top-rated Thai restaurants and cafés, and friendly massage parlors. If you’re in the mood for shopping, stop by the Patong OTOP Shopping Paradise plaza where you’ll find plenty of stores waiting to be explored.
4. Tri Trang
With expansive sea and mountain views lining the horizon and inviting sandy beaches beneath your feet, any nature lover will feel at home on Tri Trang beach. This beach is just south of Patong, far enough away from the city to make it serene, yet close enough to the resorts to make it convenient. The beach has a coastline of more than 500 meters in length and is rarely ever busy, so it’s one of the more secluded and peaceful beaches in the Patong area.
5. KUDO Beach Club
KUDO Beach Club is a spot you might want to visit if you’re looking for a place to party on the beach and have some casual fun in close proximity to a nice menu of food and drinks. There are usually always friendly people having a good time here, and there’s a large shaded area where you can relax and cool down. This is perhaps the most touristy beach in Patong, but it’s worth a mention because it’s also the most festive and organized beach in the city.
Seeing All of Patong’s Beaches Should be Easy
Patong isn’t a very large city, and there are only a handful of beaches to check out, almost all of which are listed above. Thus, you could hypothetically see them all in the span of 1-2 days to decide which one is your favorite.
